Default Q'Notes EMR/EHR FAQ's

Q'Notes Desktop Frequently Asked Questions

System Requirements
Any Windows XP or Vista computer will exceed the requirements for Q'Notes. We require 1024x768 minimum resolution, this is also the very lowest screen resolution provided in Windows XP normally. On older machines or special cases the product will run in 800x600 but you may have to position the Q'runner task bar on the screen with alt+space.

How do you add a New Patient to Q'Notes?
>A. In the Q'Notes Winview screen, click on the "New" button, and select "Add Patient". Fill in the appropriate info and click on "Do It!".

How do you set-up the Groups feature?
>A. In the Tools menu, select "Groups". Then start typing the name of the group(s) next to each number (0-9) and letter (A-Z). When adding patients, select the code number/letter for the appropriate group.

Why is the Q'Notes \ WinView screen blue when viewing a note?
>A. The blue screen lets you know that your note is locked for security and safety reasons. After two weeks we lock a note so changes can not be made to the original document. There is a provided checkbox at the bottom of the screen to unlock the note.

How do you set-up the "Vari-Note" randomization feature?
>A. On the Q'Runner taskbar, click on the 3rd button (Q'Codes Manager) and then select the "Vari-Code" tab. To add a VariCode, place the code you would like to vary in the field on the left (***) and click on the "New" button. Then on the right side, click on the "Add" button for each additional VariCode you would like for the original. Remember, you must then go to the "Add/Edit" tab, click on the "Add" button, and add the codes and verbiage for these new VariCodes.

How do I "Grab-n-Go" a small group of patients when I visit a satellite office?
>A. This feature only works if you are using the Groups feature. Simply go to the "Active" tab in Q'Notes and click on "Grab-n-Go". Then select the Group number/letter that you would like to place exclusively in PDQ. Click on the "Commit" button, then HotSync.

How do you do a simple Back-up of Q'Notes?
>A. In Q'Notes, click on the "Tools" menu, and select "Simple Back-up". Then choose or browse for your desired backup location. Lastly click on the "Backup Now" button. Please rotate your backup on new media at least three time per week.

Can I move Q'Notes to a new computer?
>A. Yes. We always recommend calling the Quick Notes technical support staff for assistance when installing or re-installing any or all of our programs. The important data files (for version 3.x or 4.x) are qnotes.not, qnotes.dat and qnotes.ix. Qcodes files are chiro.dbf, fpt and cdx or pod.dbf, fpt, cdx. The first step is to move the QNOTES and NOTES folders then install the newest update or upgrade.

Why does the Registration ESU screen keep on popping up?
>A. The registration screen lets you know that your Gold Tech Support and Licensing Plan has expired, and/or your Licensing Fees are past-due. Call the Quick Notes sales department to resolve this matter. If the message at the button of the screen says the the version or the set users does not match then call support. In the last 30 days it may pop up for 5 seconds to let you know that your service plan is running out.

How do I change the header and beginning of the note information?
>A. In Q'Notes, click on the "Tools" menu and select "Printers/Header". In the "Headers" screen, go to the appropriate tab and insert the text and macros that you would like to use. For letter head support use page setup on the File menu. The page header is on the file menu and can be used to setup your page with letter head information.

How do I add the patient name at the top of page 2?
>A. Using the headers screen above you can setup a page footer that has the patients name. "(This report prepared for: [pname])" This text will print the patient name on the last page of a report. Also the page header features above will allow the patient's name to be part of the "continued..." message at the top of the page. This works well in a batch printing but the footer solution is best for a single report.

Does Q'Notes work on a Network?
>A. Definitely. We have experience in assisting your local Network person with the proper set-up of our program on your network. However, you must have the appropriate Q'Notes or Doc-Q-Manager networking software to ensure proper function. Call the Quick Notes sales department to hear about the many networking options and pricing.

Does Q'Notes work with PC Anywhere or other remoting solutions?
>A. Yes it does. We offer Q'Notes Remote to allow satellite offices and remote providers to access the main office. This works well with Microsoft terminal services, Citrix and other remoting software like radmin.

Do we provide our own remote support?
>A. We provide our own "Help Me Now" technology for "one click" service and support securely over the internet. With just one click we can see your screen and assist you with any problem.

Does Q'Notes work across a Wide Area Network?
>A. Yes. Please call the Quick Notes technical support department for information. It is best that you have a local Network person provide you with the necessary details regarding your setup. You will need a fast connection (high band width) to use a VPN for Quick Notes. If this is not available then a remoting solution is recommended.
